Twoface 'n' Batman

Here's something I did a few years ago. I was aiming for a Dick Sprang kind of look. His work on Batman is my favorite incarnation of the character (that was not always the case, mind you, I was a fiend for Neal Adams' version as a kid).

Good job! It's very recognizeable what you're aiming for, though there's an understandable hint of it being strained through years of seeing Warner's animating style.

While I've gotten much more flexible about different styles for different situations, I'd still have to say I'm more of a fan of Adams' work than Sprangs in a contemporary setting. I don't think I'd really want to see a new series done in Sprang's style, though much would depend upon the stories... Oh, I'm all over the place now. It's Monday morning and I have no idea what I want.

I should have stuck with "nice job!"

I think the fact that he "wears" different styles so well is a mark of how great a character Batman is. What I like so much about Sprang's work is it's spare, bold graphic look. It's what I like about Kirby's DC work in the 70s. It's not right for every story situation but I sure like looking at it.

i THINK ITS PRETTY ACCOMPLISHED, AND YOU HAVE CAPTURED THE TWO FACE
PERSON VERY WELL.

DICK SRANG IS POSSIBLY THE DEFINING OF THE OLD BATMAN STYLES.

WELL DONE
